This last weekend was Davids and mine 1 year anniversary. We wanted to get away and do something but still keep things cheap so we decided to go camping.
On Friday the 29th I was working before we left and a guy comes in with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and says they are for me! I was so excited! The
re was one rose which David said represented the one year we had been married.
After work and after packing up the car we were on the road going to Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. Lava Hot Springs is a very small little town south east of Pocatello.
I saw this van on the drive up and I told David that I wanted one just like it!
When we got there we set up our tent and started a fire going and started making S'mores and Doughboys. Doughboys, for those of you who don't know, are the best camping food ever!
This is how you make them: You need 1 can of biscuit dough. (I like to use cresant dough). Then you take one biscuit and wrap it around the end of a 1 in wooden dowel. Then you roast it over the fire. When its done you slide it off the end and fill it with jam, honey, butter etc. They are so good!
Heres the fun part:
(WARNING: Pictures of needles and IV's)
Saturday morning David woke up and said I think I got bitten by a bug and he was itchy all over. It wasn't a bug bite but hives. David was covered in hives. I told him we needed to get some Benadryl. And on the way to the store his throat started to close luckily we got to the store and he popped 4 pills and then it was off to Pocatello 30 miles away to get to the closest ER. The Benadryl stopped his throat from closing. They got him hooked up to an IV and gave him a steroid and epinephrine.
We figured he developed an allergy to Penicillin since he has been on 3 or 4 different kinds in the last month. After being at the hospital for a couple hours the hives disappeared and he was feeling better so we left to go back to camping.
So back to camping. Later that afternoon we finally went to the hot springs. They are all natural they just built pools around were the stream come in. And they are hot! It was so relaxing and it was pretty empty when we went so it was really peaceful.
So there rest of the time was just more camping and enjoying our Saturday.
Sunday the 31st was our actual anniversary. We packed up camp and decided to drive to Soda Springs. We heard that there was a spring that produced natural soda. We drove all through this little town and couldn't find it and then on the way out we saw a geyser that was going off down some back street. We find it and read the little sign. The whole thing was man made. The waster was natural but they put a cap on the stream so every couple of minutes it goes off. I found that kinda lame. Oh well
Later that night we opened up our cake topper we had on our wedding day and ate what we could. It was actually pretty good it was just really big.
I'm so happy that I was able to spend this last year with the best man I know. I feel so blessed and lucky to have such a great man in my life. I look forward to the many more years to come.
EDIT: Gifts: David wrote me a beautiful letter and I got him a subscription to his favorite magazine. (Your 1 year anniversary is supposed to be paper if you didn't know)
